I have been asked this questions over and over again over the last few month! And to answer it is not that easy as it depends on several factors:

• Qualifications of the babysitter.
• Is the babysitter a casual one or working on a part-time/ full-time basis?
• The number and age of the children that need to be looked after.
• What other duties do you expect the babysitter to do? Cooking, cleaning,...
• Do you need the babysitter during the day or at night time?

A casual babysitter will charge you between $15-$20 per hour, depending on the points above.

A fully qualified and part-time or full-time babysitter/nanny might charge you up to $25 per hour.

In the end it is up to you and the babysitter to discuss and negotiate rates that you are both happy with.
